Toad in the Hole December 21, 2012 12:01 2 Comments

When I ask little how she wants her eggs, she will most certainly state, "Toad in a Hole, please." I am always happy to oblige, I love a good Toad in a Hole as well. Who doesn't love the marriage of buttery toast, and the rich flavor of a fresh egg yolk?

  • Eggs
  • Butter
  • Bread

Toad_03The girls won't go for the old circle cut out; shown above is our standard flower. Use what ever your favorite is, we follow the holidays.

Instructions: Butter both sides of the bread, don't be stingy. Using a cookie cutter cut out the center of the bread and set aside. Melt some butter in a pan over medium heat. Once butter has melted place the bread in the pan, including the cut center.

Crack an egg into the hole and season with salt and pepper. Let the egg cook until opaque, about two to three minutes. Carefully, flip the bread and egg over and continue to cook until the white has set, but not so long that the yolk begins to harden , ~30 seconds. Serve at once with the toast cut out.
